Level 1 — Basics of preaching and mosque communication
Focusing on mosque etiquette, basic delivery, correct articulation, and building the preacher's confidence when facing the congregation for the first time.
You have been asked to give a short five-minute talk (Khatirah) after the Asr prayer about the virtues of committing to the houses of Allah and mosque etiquette. The mosque is filled with both elderly people and youth; you must use a calm tone and clear articulation to ensure the message reaches everyone without being tedious or overly long.
While entering the mosque, you notice a group of teenagers laughing loudly and talking on the side near those praying. You must approach them and offer brief advice explaining the sanctity and etiquette of the place in a style that combines prestige and kindness, focusing on positive eye contact.
You are practicing ascending the pulpit to deliver only the introduction of a Friday sermon. You are required to demonstrate vocal power and proper Arabic linguistics in the opening and greetings, focusing on correct articulation to command respect for the sermon.
After finishing a religious lesson on 'Purity,' a new worshiper approaches you to ask about how to perform ablution (Wudu) correctly while having a splint on their hand. You must explain the legal ruling with extreme simplicity and in accessible Modern Standard Arabic that a layperson can understand.
You have been asked to deliver a guidance speech via loudspeaker to the women's prayer hall regarding 'The Role of the Mother in Building Generations.' The challenge here is speaking without seeing the audience, which requires high skill in vocal modulation and using expressive tones to compensate for the lack of eye contact.
Level 2 — Structuring the short sermon (reflection)
Practicing short lessons after prayers, mastering openings and closings, and keeping to time while focusing on a single topic.
You are in a quiet residential neighborhood mosque after the Asr prayer. The Imam asks you to deliver a quick reflection to the worshippers as they prepare to head back to work. You must focus on one specific point: "the importance of taking the initiative to call relatives," ensuring you finish the talk in under 5 minutes.
After the Isha prayer, the congregation is predominantly made up of university students. You are asked to deliver a short talk on the difference between Tawakkul (true reliance on God) and Tawakul (complacency). The challenge is to use modern, direct language and conclude with a brief, comprehensive prayer that aligns with the topic.
You are in a prayer room inside a large shopping mall during Dhuhr prayer. The congregants are mostly employees, merchants, and workers. You must deliver a short reflection on 'Honesty in Buying and Selling' in under 4 minutes, keeping in mind that people are in a hurry.
The main speaker is delayed for a few minutes before ascending the pulpit, and the Imam asks you to engage the congregation with a quick reflection to calm them and prepare them for the Friday prayer. The topic is (Tranquility through the Remembrance of Allah). The reflection must be flexible so that you can end it immediately upon the speaker's arrival.
You are attending a funeral gathering and have been asked to give a short, exhortative speech to offer solace to the family of the deceased. The goal is to provide a gentle, faith-based reminder—free from shouting or intimidation—focusing on the 'glad tidings for the patient' in just 5 minutes.
Level 3 — The science of reasoning and linking texts
Learning to correctly link Quranic verses and hadiths and draw direct moral lessons in a simple way.
A young man visits you at the mosque feeling deeply discouraged due to losing his job and accumulating debt; he seems skeptical of the wisdom behind his struggles. You must connect Quranic verses on patience and the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace be upon him) in dealing with adversity to calm his spirit and derive spiritual lessons that restore his hope.
You are delivering a short sermon to a group of teenagers at a youth center. One of them asks about the boundaries of obedience amidst the generational gap and parents' preoccupation with their phones or their perceived coldness. You are required to link the verse 'And show kindness to parents' to contemporary practical applications from the Sunnah.
You have been invited to give a short talk to employees at a company headquarters. The discussion revolves around 'cutting corners' and viewing it as cleverness rather than a breach of trust. You must link the story of Moses, 'the strong and trustworthy,' with Hadiths on perfecting one's work to establish ethical rules for employment.
A lady asks you about the ruling on participating in 'trends' that involve mocking others or spreading unverified news. You must link the Quranic warning against backbiting and gossip with the Prophet's Hadiths about the 'harvest of the tongues' to demonstrate the impact of digital words.
Amidst the high cost of living, a head of a household complains about the financial pressure of lavish social events. You must use texts that condemn waste and call for moderation and stewardship, linking them to the Prophet’s guidance on simple living to change social convictions.
Level 4 — Social preaching and addressing local issues
Moving preaching from theory to practice by addressing neighborhood or village issues (family ties, neighborliness) in a gentle way.
Negative emotions have escalated between two brothers in the neighborhood due to a dispute over the boundaries of inherited land, leading to a two-year estrangement. As the neighborhood preacher, you visited the older brother at his home to try to soften his heart and remind him of the virtues of kinship, using a relatable approach that avoids rigid formality.
Elderly residents in the neighborhood are complaining about young people gathering late at night in front of the mosque and in the hallways, causing noise and anxiety. You head out to sit with these youths during their gathering to turn the advice from a reprimand into a fatherly dialogue focused on the value of the neighbor and the rights of the wayfarer.
You have noticed a trend of boasting at village wedding feasts and wasting huge amounts of food, while vulnerable families struggle. You met a man preparing for his son's wedding who is planning a massive banquet beyond his financial means just to show off to the villagers.
Waste has accumulated in the corners of the neighborhood, and some residents have started dumping trash in front of others' homes. You decided to dedicate some of your time to talk to one of the residents known for neglecting their entrance, using the concept: 'Faith has seventy-some branches... the lowest of which is removing harm from the path.'
After the father's passing, the children began shirking their responsibility to host their elderly mother in their homes, each citing personal circumstances. One of the children asked you to intervene to convince his siblings, but you found the underlying motive was evasion rather than devotion. You must gently confront them about the value of 'honoring parents' as an opportunity rather than a burden.
Level 5 — The art of the pulpit sermon (Friday)
Commanding the Friday pulpit, controlling and varying your tone, and using effective body language to keep the congregation fully focused.
You are currently on the pulpit (Minbar) during Friday prayer. The situation requires you to transition from a direct preaching style to an emotional and moving tone to describe the bliss of Paradise. The goal is to use calm vocal modulation that inspires hope and tranquility in the worshippers' hearts, while maintaining comprehensive eye contact that includes everyone present.
In your sermon, you address the phenomenon of commercial fraud that has recently spread in the neighborhood. You must use a firm, strong tone without repelling shouting, utilizing powerful hand gestures to emphasize the danger, and maintaining eye contact with the sections where local market traders are seated.
The atmosphere is festive, and the audience is very large, including women and children in outdoor areas. You are required to maintain high, cheerful vocal energy and use a wide-range visual distribution to cover the square, while maintaining a bright smile and open body language.
While you are in the middle of a speech about honoring parents, a worshiper faints or a technical glitch occurs in the loudspeaker. You must contain the situation with a calm tone, maintain control of the pulpit, and then return to the topic smoothly without the congregation losing focus.
You are discussing modern financial transactions in Islamic law, a topic that might seem dry to some. The challenge is to use a didactic tone and illustrative body language (such as counting points on your fingers) to ensure the congregants understand and follow along with focus.
Level 6 — One-on-one guidance and handling questions
Developing active listening and private advice after lessons, and handling simple jurisprudence questions smartly and wisely.

A complex contemporary issue that requires a precise, multi-dimensional analysis.
A person who adopts a common idea that is religiously inaccurate.
A surface-level conflict between a religious text and a modern scientific discovery.

Drafting short and impactful preaching content for social media platforms.
Followers leaving negative or mocking comments on content you published.
